A convincing and provocative message
on race, Christian unity and Biblical values

Find+Soul+Brother.pdf

This book explores
such questions as:

  • Do Black Christians
    view the world through
    race-colored glasses?

  • What's the difference between racism and racialism?

  • Is affirmative action necessary?

  • Should you vote your
    faith or vote your race?

  • Why have some Black clergy rejected political tradition?

  • Do Black Christians care
    about abortion?

  • How should we respond
    to racism today?

  • How can we achieve super-natural success?

  • Who are the "Least of These?"

  • Is your cross weighed down with badges of victimization?

In Finding Soul Brothers: Dismantling Black Christian Racialism, former journalist Pamela G. Wilson challenges fellow African-American Christians to depart from longstanding social and political patterns based on race. Instead, she argues, they should assume a faith-based agenda, which would more closely align with their spiritual beliefs. For some that means choosing between supporting issues of social equality and affirmative action, which have long been the focus of Black Christians; or focusing on spiritual authority, family values and morality, which have traditionally been more associated with national evangelical movements. With clear examples and thorough corroboration, the book shows how and why some African-American Christians have been molded into an entity that often behaves like secular Black society. Though African-Americans are the demographic most likely to be involved in “religious” beliefs and practices, studies indicate that many do not have a "Biblical worldview". Using the Bible as a reference, this book shows how to reconcile contradictions in spiritual beliefs and practical views and decisions. Finding Soul Brothers: Dismantling Black Christian Racialism is timely and relevant to discussions of faith and race.
